25 Billion App Download

Mr. Oldfield challenged my class the Dan Meyer’s 25 Billion app>>>>>> http://threeacts.mrmeyer.com/25billionapps/. I started by  putting the time we started which is 6:27. At 6:27 the downloads was at 24,658,507,655. I kept doing that for 4 minutes:

  • 6:28-24,658,541,892;
  • 6:29-24,658,576,918
  • 6:30-24,658,610,221

I then subtract the number at 6:28 from the number at 6:27 which equals 34,231. Then the number at 6:29 from the number at 6:28 and that equals 35,026. Then finally I subtracted the number at 6:30 from the number at 6:29 and that equals 33,303. After getting these three numbers:

  • 34,231
  • 35,026
  • 33,303

I added the three numbers up together and got 102,560 and then divided by 3 and got 34,188. 34,188 is the downloads per minute. I then multiplied 34,188 with 60 to get how many downloads are in a hour because there is 60 minutes in a hour which is 2,051,280.  Next I multiplied 2,051,280 with 24 to find out how many downloads there are in a day because there is 24 hours in a day and the answer is 49,230,720. I then got the number of downloads from when we began the project which is 24,658,507,655 and kept adding to the number of downloads per day which is 49,230,720. I added the numbers up seven times and that would mean seven days later. On the seventh day there was 25,003,122,695. That means that there is 3,122695 away from 25,000,000,000. I then subtracted a hour from 25,003,122,695. Which is 25,003,122,695-2,051,288=25,001,071,415. After that I subtracted 40 minutes off of 25,001,071,415. 3o minutes would be 820,512 so 25,001,071,415-820,512=25,000,046,765. So that means the contest will probably end on March 2nd around 7:26.
